CMS Announces Payment Rates for New Codes for Pathogen-Reduced Platelets and Pathogen-Tested Platelets

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the July 2017 payment rates under the Medicare hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System, including rates for the new Q-codes established for pathogen-reduced platelets. The payment rate for Q9988, "platelets, pheresis, pathogen reduced, each unit," will be $647.40. The new rates will be effective for dates of service on or after July 1.
